Each month, we’ll focus on some options you can explore on rainy days. If you’re visiting Perranporth with young kids, dodging boredom is key. Here are a couple of gems if you want to avoid a drenching.
Local: Perranzabuloe Museum
Did you know Perranporth has its own museum? Located on Ponsmere Road in a historic building, this volunteer-run, compact space invites you to delve into the rich history of our parish. Expect to discover stories about local personalities, dig up some archaeological secrets, and find out how tourism and trade have changed our town through the years.
It’s totally free to enter, and run by locals who truly love Perranporth and enjoy telling its lesser-known stories.
Worth getting in the car: Jungle Jack’s Newquay
When the heavens open and your youngsters are bored, there’s nothing better than a good soft play. Kids can go nuts, adults can put their feet up. In this writer’s vast and varied experience, soft play is not usually synonymous with good coffee.
But Jungle Jack’s breaks the mould, as their flat white is among the best I’ve had.
With 1700 square feet of crawling tubes, challenging climbs and racing slides, plus a special separate area for the really wee ones, there’s something for most ages in this unit. The staff are lovely, it’s super clean and there’s WiFi so you can catch up on work/life while your youngsters burn off some steam. Best to book ahead if it’s really coming down, as things get pretty busy in the jungle.
