As you’ll probably know, Perranporth Camping & Touring is a cracking little campsite located a level 10-minute walk from our beautiful beach and all the town has to offer. But, as I discovered recently, it’s so much more than just a place to pitch up for your holiday. I was enjoying a cappuccino at Ochre (Perranporth’s newest cafe, another place well worth a visit) one morning when the owners told me about The Fern.
Now, as a regular purveyor of things both shaken and stirred, I thought I was the oracle on where one can get a good martini in Perranporth.
But how wrong I was.
The Fern is run by Charlie and Megan, an energetic young couple who really know their way around a Boston shaker.

Their menu is packed with time-honoured classics like espresso martinis and cosmopolitans, but you’ll also find fruity twists, including a watermelon mojito and raspberry bellini. Heading there with a gang? Split a pitcher of Pimm’s while you lean into those lengthy catchups. If cocktails aren’t your thing, they’ve got Estrella and Brooklyn Stonewall IPA on draught, plus bottled beers and a small but well-chosen wine list.
They’ve been running for three years, with each season bringing new improvements to their setup. Last year, they spent their off-season installing brand new tiered decking with built-in bench seats and a ramp/handrail down into the bar (five stars for keeping accessibility in mind). Honestly, it’s the loveliest little chilled-out spot for soaking up some sunshine.
There’s also a charming little food van opposite, Sisu (check socials for opening times). So, if you need something to soak up all those margaritas and spritzes, you can grab a slab of cake in the afternoon or, a little later on, dive headfirst into a bowl of cheesy fries. Megan and Charlie have more plans for The Fern in the coming seasons, so keep an eye on their socials to watch their ideas unfurl. The Fern’s offering a 20% discount to customers who arrive brandishing a copy of Perranporth Life (see page 10), so get your skates on and tag us in your epic cocktail snaps.
Aim for 4-5pm to enjoy their happy hour deals and I’ll see you there.
Cheers!
